John Abraham says private life with wife Priya Runchal key to staying ‘scandal-free’

Bollywood actor and producer John Abraham has credited his low-profile marriage with banker Priya Runchal for helping them lead a “scandal-free” life away from the public eye.

In an interview with India Today, John said the couple’s decision to stay private has always been intentional. “That is a very conscious decision, because my films have nothing to do with my personal life,” he said. The couple, who married in 2014, rarely make public appearances or share moments on social media.

With over two decades in the film industry, John has never hired a publicist or agent, preferring to avoid the publicity circuit. “Once my films are over, I go into my shell and only come out when I have something relevant to say,” said the actor, whose upcoming film Tehran premieres on ZEE5 on August 15, 2025.

John also shared that avoiding Bollywood parties has never been difficult for him. “The music is too loud, I don’t drink, and I sleep early — waking up by 4–4:30 am to read and follow world news,” he explained.

He praised Priya for bringing “maturity” to their relationship and for consciously choosing to stay out of the limelight.
