Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has warned that Awami League men will not be spared if they try to engage in any form of wrongdoings.
He emphasized that all individuals, regardless of affiliation or position, will be brought under justice if found involved.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters following a visit to Mohammadpur Police Station in Dhaka on Saturday.
“As the activities of Awami League are banned, any attempt to carry out misdeeds will be met with strict action. They will not be let off under any circumstances,” the adviser said.
When asked whether there is any concern surrounding the upcoming August 5 events, he responded, “If Allah wills, there is no reason for worry. With the level of support and cooperation we’re receiving, there’s no threat.”
In response to a journalist’s query about Awami League allegedly continuing its operations secretly and involving even a military officer, the adviser affirmed that no individual; regardless of which force they belong to, will be exempt from accountability.
“Everyone involved will be brought to justice under the law,” he said.
On the question of Awami League’s reported secret training sessions, the adviser noted that the matter is under investigation. “All details will emerge through proper inquiry,” he added.
Addressing members of the press, he said, “Please publish the real report. When the truth is published, it benefits the people and improves the law and order situation in the country.”
He also credited the media for its role in countering negative foreign narratives: “Because of your truthful reporting, international media outlets are now toning down their coverage. They can no longer be as aggressive as they used to be.”
