In a week-long series of joint operations led by the Bangladesh Army, 328 individuals involved in various criminal activities were detained between July 10 and 17.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were carried out in coordination with other law enforcement agencies across different parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka.
The detainees include identified terrorists, arms dealers, drug traffickers, smugglers, juvenile gang members, extortionists, illegal land grabbers, robbers, and illegal sand miners. Many were reportedly caught red-handed during the raids.
Security forces recovered eight illegal firearms, 49 rounds of ammunition, 16 cocktail bombs, narcotics, locally-made weapons, stolen items, mobile phones, and cash from the suspects. The arrested individuals have since been handed over to local police stations for further investigation and legal action.
The Bangladesh Army has stepped up its operations in an effort to dismantle criminal networks and ensure public safety, particularly in industrial areas affected by recent unrest. The initiative is also aimed at restoring stability and facilitating normal trade activities.
ISPR urged citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to the nearest army camp as operations continue to reinforce law and order nationwide.
