Tigers roar as Bangladesh clinches T20 series with dominant win

Bangladesh has secured a historic T20 series victory over Sri Lanka, chasing down a modest target of 133 with a dominant performance in the third and final T20 International at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

The Tigers’ comprehensive win seals their first-ever T20 series triumph against Sri Lanka. The foundation was laid by an exceptional bowling display, particularly from Sheikh Mahedi.

After Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat, Mahedi ripped through their top order, finishing with career-best figures of 4 wickets for just 11 runs, including a maiden over.

His crucial breakthroughs derailed the Sri Lankan innings, restricting them to 132-7 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Bangladesh faced a surprising start, losing Parvez Hossain Emon to Nuwan Thushara on the very first ball of their innings.

However, skipper Litton Das and opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim then forged a crucial 74-run partnership in just 50 balls, setting the Tigers on course for victory. Litton departed after a brisk 32 off 26, caught in the deep while attempting a sweep.

Ultimately, propelled by Tamim’s dominant 73 off 47 balls and Towhid Hridoy’s composed 27 off 25, Bangladesh comfortably reached their target.

Tamim’s impressive innings included six sixes and a single four, showcasing both composure and aggressive intent when required.

This series win marks a significant milestone for Bangladesh cricket, successfully capping off their multi-format tour with a well-deserved T20 trophy.
