Bangladeshi workers to get ”Multiple Entry Visas” in Malaysia

The Malaysian government has decided to issue Multiple Entry Visas (MEV) for Bangladeshi migrant workers, replacing the existing Single Entry Visas (SEV) that had long posed challenges for Bangladeshi nationals working there.
Adviser to the Ministry of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Asif Nazrul, revealed the information through a Facebook post on Monday.
Dr Nazrul noted that while Malaysia recruits workers from 15 countries, only Bangladeshi workers were previously restricted to single-entry visas, complicating their ability to travel home for urgent or family reasons.
“Last month, I, along with Lutfey Siddique Bhai and a delegation, met Malaysia’s Home Minister and presented the issue. He assured us of quick action. Since then, officials from the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and the Bangladesh Embassy in Malaysia have been actively engaged, leading to this positive outcome,” Dr Nazrul wrote.
According to a letter dated July 10, 2025, issued by the Director General of Malaysian Immigration, all existing SEVs issued to Bangladeshi workers will now be converted to MEVs. Workers who already hold SEVs and valid Temporary Employment Visit Passes (PLKS) will not need to reapply; the MEV will be automatically issued upon PLKS renewal.
Furthermore, Malaysian authorities have instructed all international airports and land ports to allow Bangladeshi workers holding valid PLKS and SEVs to exit and re-enter Malaysia without requiring a new MEV.
The move is expected to ease travel difficulties for thousands of Bangladeshi workers and strengthen labour ties between the two countries.
