Asif Mahmud expresses regret for not being martyred in July uprising

Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Advisor of Ministries of Youth, Sports, and Local Government, has expressed regret at not having been “martyred” in July.
He made this comment in a verified Facebook status update on Friday night.
In his post, Asif Mahmud wrote, “Last year, in July, someone directly ordered our killing. What the people of this country did to him is known to all.”
Recalling his own experience, he continued, “I was very close to being martyred on July 36. If the opportunity for martyrdom comes, I will never back down.”
In the status, he described July as a month of resistance and sacrifice, stating, “July has given birth to millions of revolutionaries in this country.”
He further added, “It doesn’t matter if I or we are not here; our vision is not limited to a fleeting life. The progress of these revolutionaries will continue to build Bangladesh into a sovereign, powerful nation.”
At one point in the status, hinting at past violent attacks, he said, “I kill one, only one goes; the rest don’t, Sir. Have you forgotten?”
