The Zakat Foundation of America, through its Bangladesh Country Office, provided important food support to 100 vulnerable families at Kulaura in Moulvibazar on Sunday.
It was organized under the supervision of the foundation’s Project Officer, Md. Nurul Islam.
The distribution event took place in the courtyard of the Kulaura Upazila Parishad where each family received 60 kilograms of rice as part of the foundation’s ongoing relief efforts.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shah Zahurul Hossain was present here as the chief guest.
Addressing the event, Shah Zahurul Hossain said, “Initiatives like this from the Zakat Foundation play a crucial role in supporting truly needy families.
This kind of assistance is both timely and commendable, he added.”
Addressing the welcome speech, Project Officer Md. Nurul Islam pointed out the growing economic pressure on low- and middle-income families due to the global economic downturn and rising prices. “Standing beside those who are struggling has become more important than ever. This initiative reflects our commitment to supporting those most in need,” he said.
He also mentioned that the Zakat Foundation had carried out similar food distribution efforts during the holy month of Ramadan, ensuring that the most disadvantaged communities were not left behind.
Kulaura Press Club President M. Shakil Rashid Chowdhury, Kulaura Muslim Aid Hospital Administrator Belal Ahmed Chowdhury, local entrepreneurs Md. Selur Rahman and Shamim Ahmed, and among others, were present on the occasion as special guests.
