BSF pushes in 19 people through Sreemangal border

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed 19 people into Bangladesh through Kakmarachhara border area under Sindurkhan union of Sreemangal upazila, Moulvibazar district.
The incident occurred early Thursday morning, June 26. Around 4:00 AM, police rescued the group from an abandoned, under-construction house at Jamburachhara village and took them into custody.
According to police, the 19 individuals are residents of various districts in Bangladesh, including Chattogram, Feni, and Shariatpur. Among them are six men, nine women, and four children. Authorities are in the process of verifying their identities and will take steps to reunite them with their families.
Police said that the BSF pushed the group into Bangladesh through Kakmarachhara border. A local resident reportedly spotted them and allowed them to stay temporarily in the abandoned house. The presence of the group was later reported via the national emergency helpline 999. Police promptly responded and brought the individuals to the police station.
Speaking to four of the returnees, it was learned that they had been living and working in Mumbai, Maharashtra for several years. They had entered India via brokers and were employed in various roles such as domestic workers and construction laborers. Recently, Mumbai police detained them, and they were handed over to BSF in Agartala. Subsequently, the BSF pushed them into Bangladesh early Thursday morning.
Sreemangal Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aminul Islam told That, “After being informed via the national emergency helpline 999, we recovered the group from the location around 4:00 AM and brought them into police custody. During questioning, they said they had been working in various sectors in Mumbai. Their identities are being verified, and necessary legal steps will be taken accordingly.”
