Jamaat ameer apologies for past wrongs, incl Liberation War

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has publicly sought an unconditional apology for all past mistakes, including those related to the 1971 Liberation War.

Speaking on a televised talk show on Tuesday, Dr. Rahman said, “Just as individuals can make mistakes, political parties can also take wrong decisions as a collective. For all such errors, I sincerely seek forgiveness without any conditions.”

When asked if his apology covered the period of the Liberation War, he clarified, “My apology extends from 1947 until today. If anyone has suffered due to our actions during this entire period, I ask for their forgiveness.”

He added, “We are an ideological party and accept that we are human, capable of mistakes. History will decide what was right or wrong. What may seem a mistake today might be regarded differently in the future.”

Dr. Rahman emphasized that his apology was genuine and unconditional, acknowledging the pain caused by him and his party members over the years.
