Man killed in Habiganj lightning strike

A man was killed in a lightning strike while trying to chase cattle away from a grassy field near his home at Kakailchao union under Azmiriganj upazila in Habiganj district on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Alamgir Mia, 40, son of Quddus Mia from Ghardai village in the upazila.
According to locals, Alamgir was struck by lightning during rainfall while attempting to drive cattle off a field commonly used for grazing.
He collapsed on the spot and was rushed to the Azmiriganj Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Azmiriganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Shafiqul Islam confirmed the incident.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nibir Ranjan Talukder said necessary steps have been taken and the victim’s family will receive financial assistance from the government.
