The stage is set for the most expansive edition of FIFA Club World Cup, kicking off early Sunday in the United States. For the first time in the tournament’s history, 32 clubs from around the world will compete, bringing together 1,006 footballers; an unprecedented gathering of global talent.

While fans eagerly await marquee clashes like Inter Miami vs. Al Ahly, which features superstars such as Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, Harry Kane and Erling Haaland, the player pool tells an even more compelling story of football’s global reach.

Brazil tops the list with a record-breaking 141 players participating across different clubs, followed by Argentina with 103. Spain comes in third with 54 players, while Portugal and Mexico follow with 49 and 41 respectively.

The United States contributes 40 players to the tournament, narrowly ahead of France with 37 and Germany and Italy, both with 36. Morocco and South Africa have 31 players each, with Japan sending 29. North and South Korea together account for 27 participants.

England, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia each have 25 players, while Uruguay fields 24 and Egypt and New Zealand both send 23 players. Colombia is represented by 14 footballers, and Austria by 13. Sweden follows with 9.

Nations like Belgium, Mali, Netherlands, Norway and the UAE are each represented by 8 players. Chile, Paraguay, Turkey and Venezuela have 6 each, while Croatia, Ecuador, Nigeria, Serbia and Switzerland each contribute 5. Algeria, Denmark, and Poland have 4 players each.

Among countries with 3 representatives are Canada, Ghana, Greece, Senegal, Slovenia, Ukraine, Albania, Angola and Cameroon. Ivory Coast, El Salvador, Israel, and Luxembourg are each represented by 2 players.

Additionally, a wide range of countries including Armenia, China, Jamaica, Russia, Iran, Palestine and Zimbabwe, will each be represented by a single footballer, underscoring the Club World Cup’s growing inclusivity and reach. As the tournament begins, it’s not just about the clubs, it’s a celebration of football from every corner of the planet.
