Chief Organizer of the Southern Region of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), Hasnat Abdullah, has stressed that a level playing field must be ensured ahead of the upcoming national elections.
He made the remarks during a visit to Debidwar, Cumilla, where he met with the families of the July martyrs on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
Hasnat underscored that ensuring a fair electoral environment is essential to safeguard democracy and legitimacy in the voting process.
Welcoming the recent announcement of the election timeline by Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus—who stated that elections are expected to be held in the first half of April next year—Hasnat emphasized that the July Charter and July Declaration must be implemented prior to the polls, alongside creating an equitable political atmosphere.
During his visit, the NCP leader sacrificed three cows for the families of the July martyrs. Braving the rain, he personally distributed the sacrificial meat to the families of martyrs Rubel and Sabbir, and inquired about their well-being.
Hasnat paid tribute to the July movement martyrs, noting that their sacrifices were made in the interest of the nation’s progress and development.
He also called upon all political forces to work unitedly, beyond party lines, to build a prosperous and peaceful Bangladesh.
