Bangladesh allrounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz is set to make his Pakistan Super League (PSL) debut after receiving a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday.
Miraz will join Lahore Qalandars for the ongoing PSL season and is cleared to play from May 22 to 25, confirmed Shahriar Nafees, the BCB’s manager of cricket operations. “He applied for the NOC this morning and received it in the afternoon,” Nafees told reporters.
This marks the 27-year-old’s first appearance in an overseas franchise league. Recently named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for April, Miraz is not part of the current Bangladesh squad playing a T20I series against the UAE in Sharjah.
Lahore Qalandars secured a playoff spot with a 26-run victory over Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday. The franchise has already brought in another Bangladeshi star, Shakib Al Hasan, to strengthen their squad.
Miraz is expected to bolster Lahore’s spin department in the tournament’s crucial final stages. The PSL had been briefly suspended earlier this month due to India-Pakistan tensions, prompting players like Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana to return home. Both had been playing for Lahore and Peshawar respectively.
In his T20 career so far, Miraz has played 153 matches, taking 107 wickets at an economy rate of 7.55 and scoring 2,099 runs, including seven half-centuries.
