The testimony in the case against cricketer Nasir Hossain and his wife Tamima Sultana Tammi for alleged unlawful marriage has been deferred to June 16.
On Sunday (March 23), PBI inspector Sheikh Md Mizanur Rahman was scheduled for cross-examination but failed to appear in court. Consequently, Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain rescheduled the hearing.
Nasir attended the court, while Tamima, unable to obtain leave from her job at Saudia Airlines, and submitted a time petition which was granted.
The case was filed on February 24, 2021, by Tamima’s former husband, Rakib Hasan. PBI’s investigation report, submitted on September 30, 2021, found three individuals guilty. However, on January 24, 2022, the court dismissed charges against Tamima’s mother Sumi Akter and proceeded with the trial against Nasir and Tamima.
