Barcelona secured a 2-0 victory over Las Palmas on Saturday, moving back to the top of La Liga. The win came after Atletico Madrid briefly claimed first place with a win over Valencia. Barcelona’s victory, which was earned through goals from Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres, put them one point ahead of Atletico Madrid.
Olmo, a second-half substitute, opened the scoring with a clinical finish, followed by Torres, who sealed the win with a strike late in the game, avenging Barcelona’s earlier surprise home defeat to Las Palmas this season.
Barcelona struggled in the first half to break down Las Palmas’ defense but improved after the break when Olmo replaced Fermin Lopez. Las Palmas had a few chances, with former Barcelona forward Sandro Ramirez narrowly missing, while Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski had a header saved.
In the dying moments of the match, Las Palmas pushed for an equalizer, but Barcelona capitalized on a defensive error, with Raphinha setting up Torres to seal the three points.
The loss left Las Palmas in 17th place, level on points with Valencia, who occupy the relegation zone.
