CA calls for immediate restoration of law and order

Published: 07 February 2025, 8:35:41

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has urged all citizens to ensure the immediate restoration of law and order across the country.

In an official statement, he called for an end to all attacks on properties associated with Sheikh Hasina’s family and politicians from the Awami League, emphasizing that no citizen should face violence under any circumstances.

While acknowledging the deep frustration of activists who suffered under the previous administration, the Chief Adviser stressed the importance of upholding the rule of law. “The government understands the outrage of those who lived through years of oppression. However, as a nation, we must prove to the world that we respect the rule of law and remain committed to justice,” the statement read.

The interim government urged citizens to demonstrate discipline and uphold security to prevent instability. The statement warned that any attempts to incite violence or provoke disorder would be met with strict action from law enforcement agencies.

“We must not compromise the security and stability of our country. Any disregard for the law endangers the safety of citizens and could damage Bangladesh’s image internationally,” the statement added.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to holding former leaders accountable for alleged crimes, stating that attacks on their properties could allow them to garner international sympathy. “Our goal is to bring those responsible for past injustices to justice, and the world stands with us in this effort. Any deterioration in law and order will send the wrong message globally.”

Calling on citizens to focus their energy on rebuilding the country, the Chief Adviser urged all to work towards a peaceful and prosperous Bangladesh where security, dignity, and justice prevail for all.
