Bangladesh’s US Ambassador to attend Trump’s inauguration

Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the United States Asad Alam Siam will attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration day on January 20.
Foreign ministry spokesperson and Director General of the Public Diplomacy Wing Mohammad Rafiqul Alam informed this to media at the ministry’s weekly briefing on Thursday afternoon.
He said that Ambassador Siam has been invited to participate in the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Donald Trump.
When asked whether any interim government officials has been invited to Trump’s inauguration, Alam clarified that it is customary for foreign mission chiefs stationed in the United States to receive invitations to the inauguration ceremony of the US president.
Meanwhile, responding to a questioned, Alam clarified that there is a tradition and this tradition is being upheld this year as well. “The invitation letter we received explicitly states that the heads of foreign missions in the US are invited to the event,” he said.
President-elect Donald Trump will be sworn in as 47th President of the United States on January 20 in Washington.
