The Bangla Tigers, captained by Shakib Al Hasan, endured their third consecutive defeat in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, losing to UP Nawabs by seven wickets at Abu Dhabi Cricket Ground on Saturday.
This marked their fourth loss in seven matches, placing them second from the bottom in the standings and jeopardizing their chances of advancing in the tournament.
After being sent to bat first, the Bangla Tigers managed a modest 87-4 in their 10 overs. Shakib, who faced only the final ball of the innings, remained unbeaten without scoring. Iftikhar Ahmed led the Tigers’ scoring with a quickfire 27 off 15 balls, while opener Mohammad Shahzad contributed a laborious 23 off 23 deliveries.
The UP Nawabs chased down the target comfortably, reaching 88-3 in just eight overs. Opener Avishka Fernando’s blistering 36 off 16 balls set the tone for the chase, and Najibullah Zadran sealed the victory with an unbeaten 19 off five deliveries.
Despite Shakib delivering an economical spell of 2-0-12-0, his efforts were not enough to turn the tide for the Bangla Tigers.
