Over 5,500 farmers receive free fertilizers, seeds in Sunamganj and Natore

Around 5,570 farmers in Natore’s Singra upazila and Sunamganj’s Dharmapasha upazila have received free seeds and fertilizers for crops like mustard, wheat, maize, onion, khesari, peanuts, and lentils under the Agricultural Incentive Program for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
Among them, 5,240 farmers from Singra upazila and 330 farmers from Dharmapasha upazila were given were given one kg mustard seeds, one kg MOP fertilizer, and one kg DAP fertilizer on Tuesday.
The distribution event in Natore took place on Tuesday at noon, at Singra Upazila Agriculture Hall Room, inaugurated by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ha-Meem Tabassum Prova, and attended by Upazila Agriculture Officer Khondaker Farid, Senior Fisheries Officer Shahadat Hossain, journalists, and community leaders.
In Sunamganj’s Dharmapasha upazila, the distribution event was led by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Gias Uddin, with Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Abdullah Al Masud Tushar presiding. Agriculture Extension Officer Shah Alam, Assistant Plant Protection Officer Kamrul Hasan, and Assistant Agriculture Officer Sakhawat Hossain were also present.
This initiative aims to increase cultivation on fallow lands while promoting “Diverse agriculture in haor regions,” encouraging farmers to diversify their crops.
