Pakistan vs Bangladesh second Test to be played without spectators

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that the second Test against Bangladesh at the National Stadium in Karachi will be held without fans. Ticket sales for the match have been suspended with immediate effect and those who did purchase tickets, will get a full refund.
The second Test is scheduled to be played from August 30 to September 3.
“We understand the vital role that our passionate spectators play in cricket, providing inspiration and motivation to our players. However, the health and safety of our fans is our utmost priority,” the board said in a statement, reports News agencies.
“After careful consideration of all available options, we have decided that the safest course of action is to hold the second Test in front of an empty stadium,” it added.
“Fans who have already purchased tickets will receive a full refund automatically, with the amount credited to the account details provided at the time of purchase.
“While we deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause, we want to assure our valued fans that the ongoing stadium upgrades are aimed at enhancing their experience. The renovations are part of our commitment to making the venue more spectator-friendly and preparing it for the Champions Trophy.”
Why will the Test be played without spectators?
The Test in Karachi will be played without spectators due to construction work at the venue as part of Pakistan’s preparation for the Champions Trophy in the early part of 2025.
Pakistan are due to play two Tests against Bangladesh with the opening match in Rawalpindi from August 21.
The Champions Trophy is set to start on February 19 and conclude on March 9.
