Motorcyclist killed in Sylhet road accident

A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a pickup van on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway at Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet district in the early hours of Friday.
The accident happened around 12.20 am on Friday in Chiknagul Panichara area under the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Moinul Hossain Ayani, 55, son of late Esa Member of Umanpur village under Chiknagul union of the upazila. He was the Deputy Manager (Service) of Sylhet Gas Field Limited.
According to local sources, the accident occurred when he was returning home from the main gate of Panichra gas field riding a motorcycle.
On the way, a Jaflong-bound pickup van hit his motorcycle from behind around 12:20 am, leaving him seriously injured, Jaintapur Police Station’s official said.
Later, he was taken to a private hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Chiknagul Union Parishad Chairman Kamruzzaman Chowdhury confirmed the death matter, adding that on information, police seized the pickup van from the spot.
