Metro Rail to be inaugurated in December

Country’s first Metro Rail will be open to the public in the last week of December.

Primarily, the Dhaka Metro Rail will run from Uttara to Agargaon.

M A N Siddique, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), confirmed the development to journalists after signing an agreement on land development at Metrorail MRT Line-1 depot area.

The signing ceremony was held at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday.

He said “Countrymen will board the metro rail in the last week of December. Initially, 11.73-kilometer viaduct from Uttara to Agargaon will be open. There are nine stations in the route.”
