Osmani Medical College doctors continue strike

Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital’s intern doctors have been continuing their strike for the third consecutive day on Wednesday. Only emergency and cardiology department services are being provided.

The protesters took position on the road in front of the medical college. They locked all other departments and main gate of the medical College.

Protesting the harassment of a female intern doctor and the attack on two students of the medical college, the intern doctors started the strike on Monday night.

The hospital Intern Doctors Association’s general secretary Dr Ahmed Muntakin Chowdhury said the strike will be withdrawn, if their demands are met.

The demands include to arrest all the culprits involved in the incidents.

Patients have been facing troubles to get treatment due to the protest.

The protesters earlier gave an ultimatum to meet their demands by 2pm on Tuesday. As the authorities failed to fulfill the demands, they started the strike again from 5pm on Tuesday.

Two separate cases have been for harassing a female intern doctor and attempting to murder two students of the medical college.

Meanwhile, the students of the MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital boycotted their classes and examinations. Outsides are being restricted. The students will continue the movement till the demands are met.
