Shahjalal university suspends 8 BCL men over attacks on students

SUST Correspondent : Eight leaders of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of Awami League, were suspended for carrying out attacks on two students on the campus.
The syndicate members took the decision at its 214th meeting chaired by the Vice Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed.
The temporarily suspended students are Ashraf Kamal Arif, Mahbub Al Amin, Iftekhar Ahmed Rana, Sumon Miah, Abdul Bari Sajib, Kawsar Ahmed Sohag and Rishad Thakur.
According to university sources, SUST authorities suspended seven BCL activists for one semester for carrying out attack on Rajib Sarker, a student of Bangla department at the university, on March 23.
The BCL men attacked him with sharp weapons near the main gate of SUST. Rajib sustained head injuries in the attack and was admitted to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The university authority suspended Abdur Rashid Rasel, mass education affairs secretary of SUST unit Chhatra League, permanently on charge of attacking Jahid Hasan Nayem, organising secretary of SUST unit BCL, with sharp weapon.
