The deceased was identified as Bokul Das, son of Ramu Kumar Das of Sonagao village in Lakhai upazila of Habiganj district. He was a student of Political Studies department of the university and a resident of Shah Paran hall.
Zahir Uddin Ahmed, proctor of SUST said Bokul fell sick at around 1:30 am and was taken to Osmani Medical College Hospital where he died.
The reason for committing suicide has not been ascertained yet although a suicide note was found in his room mentioning ‘no one is responsible for my death’.
It is suspected that the student was suffering from mental depression.
