SUST Correspondent : President Abdul Hamid on Sunday asked universities to take necessary measures to ensure congenial atmosphere on their campuses.
He made the remarks when Vice-chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed met him at Bangabhaban in the afternoon.
During the meeting, the VC apprised the President of overall activities of the university.
President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
The President said universities should put emphasis on research activities alongside routine activities in this era of information technology.
He also underscored the need for formulation of specific work plans for conducting research in all public and private universities.
During the meeting, the SUST VC informed the President that there is no session jam at the university and the drop culture has been reduced to a tolerable level.
He also said one adviser has been appointed at every department for ensuring congenial atmosphere for academic activities.
Farid Uddin invited the President, also the chancellor of the university, to preside over the 3rd convocation of the university.
He also handed over the annual report of 2014-15 of the university to the President.
