Step-daughter thrown into river, step-mom held

Sylhet Office : A step-mother threw her daughter into Surma River from a bridge following a family feud in Sylhet on Friday.
Police arrested the alleged mother over the incident. The arrestee was identified as Salma Begum, 28, wife of Ziaul Haque from Fatehpur village of down-town Sylhet.
The incident was took place on this afternoon (July 5) at Kumargaon Bridge. On formation, Police and fire service personnel were trying to rescue the minor girl Maha Begum (5) till filing the story.
Quoting locals ASI Saidul Islam of Jalalabad Thana said Salma Begum took her step daughter Maha to Kumargaon Bridge and threw into the river following a quarrel with her family. Witnessing the incident, locals detained Salma and put her to police custody. Salma is also a mother of three children.
