Sports Desk : Bangladesh top-order batsmen have successfully controlled their first match of the tri-nation series as they beat West Indies by eight wickets at Dublin, Ireland.
Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar gave Bangladesh a flying start with a 144-run opening partnership before Soumya was sent to pavilion for 73. Later Tamim and Shakib made a fifty partnership. Tamim was removed by Gabriel after scoring the highest 80.
Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim crossed the victory line by bagging 61 and 32 runs respectively.
Bangladesh ensured victory after scoring 264 runs with 30 balls remaining.
Earlier, West Indies won the toss and set a 262-run target for Bangladesh by losing nine wickets in stipulated 50 overs Tuesday (May 7).
Shai Hope secured his sixth ODI century off 126 balls. At the same time, he surpassed Viv Richards to reach the milestone of fastest 2000 ODI runs.
Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza hauled 3 wickets in 10 overs while Saifuddin and Mustafiz hauled two wickets each.
