Sylhet Office : Awami League acting General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif today said the people have kept confidence in his party for the third consecutive time and now time has come to pay back to the people further more.

“Awami League has started re-strengthening the party at wards, unions and grassroots ahead of the central council to be held in October next,” he told a representative conference of Awami League in Sylhet Division at Kabi Nazrul auditorium at Rikabi Bazar in the city.

AL Presidium Member and former Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid addressed the conference as the chief guest with AL Organising Secretary Ahmed Hossain in the chair.

AL Organising Secretary Advocate Md Misbah Uddin Siraj, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali, Sylhet City AL President Badar Uddin Kamran, among others, addressed the conference joined by leaders of
different units of AL in Sylhet division.

Hanif said AL, a pro-people party, led in all democratic movements including the 1971 Liberation War.

But, a vested quarter along with the anti-liberation force always hatched conspiracy against Awami League, he said, adding that now the party is getting stronger than earlier under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter
Sheikh Hasina.
