Bangladesh, India to start cruise service Friday

Bangladesh and India are set to launch a cruise service on Friday that would take passengers through the Sunderbans to Dhaka.

The two neighboring countries took the move to strengthen inland waterway routes between them.

“We have started the movement of goods using the inland waterways, so goods from India can go in the cheapest possible form up to Narayanganj and Dhaka,” reports Indian news agency Press Trust of India citing an official at Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

Both the countries are interested to strengthen the connectivity between them as a large number of Bangladesh nationals visit India every year.

There are also issues like common culture and heritage that influenced the governments to take the initiative.
