12 persons, one institution to get Independence Award this year

The government has announced the names of 12 people and one institute that will receive the Independence Award for their contributions to the nation.

Shaheed Intellectual Mofazzal Hayder Chowdhury, Shaheed ATM Zafar Alam, AKM Mazammel Haque, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Dr Quazi Misbahun Nahar, late Abdul Khalek, late Prof Mohammad Khaled, Brig Gen Dr Nurunnahar Fatema Begum, Dr QuaziKhaliquzzaman Ahmad, Murtaza Bashir, Hassan Azizul Haque, Prof Dr Hasina Khan and the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) will receive the Independence Award on the Independence Day.

Of the nominees, Mofazzal Hayder, Zafar Alam, Mazammel Haque, Mosharraf Hossain, Misbahun Nahar, late Abdul Khalek, late Prof Khaled were nominated for the awards for their contributions in the country’s liberation war and independence.

The personalities and BINA will receive the awards on March 25 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, a day before the country’s Independence Day.

As per the tradition, premier of the nation Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the prestigious awards personally during the event.
