Everest Academy Emogo Sports Management Limited and Bangladesh Athletics Federation jointly organized the event where the women were required to run a 10-kilometer-long course in city’s Hatirjheel area. The event was sponsored by Pran Mango, Topper Cookware and Duronto Bicycle.
The marathon started from Film Development Corporation (FDC) intersection of Hatirjheel at 6.30 am and ended at Concord Police Plaza point after parading the Hatirjheel area.
Women from all walks of life including students, athletes, sportsmen, service holders, businessmen, housewives joined the event.
Former Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed prizes and certificates among the first 100 contestants who crossed the finish line.
This was the 4th edition of the all-women marathon which saw the highest number of participants, including foreigners.
