PM pays homage to Bangabandhu on historic March 7
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of the historic March 7, which was instrumental to the independence of the nation.
PM Sheikh Hasina paid the homage by placing floral wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in Dhaka on Thursday morning.
She first laid a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu as the premier.
After placing the wreath, she stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of the independence.
Sheikh Hasina, president of Bangladesh Awami League (AL), placed another wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation on behalf of her party while other party leaders accompanied her.
Later, the leaders and workers of Awami League’s associate bodies, including Awami Jubo League, Chhatra League, Mohila Awami League, Sramik League, Krishak League, Jubo Mohila League and Swechchhasebak League, also paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his portrait on the occasion.
On this day in 1971, Bangabandhu through his historic speech made a clarion call to people to fight against the Pakistani occupation forces to achieve the long-awaited freedom and independence.
