RAB discloses identity of Biman hijacker
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Monday said the alleged Biman hijacker is a listed criminal of Narayanganj.
RAB said it found fingerprint match with the ‘hijacker’ with one Md Palash Ahmed, a criminal from Narayanganj’s Sonargaon.
Sources said, the BG-147 flight had a seat reserved to ‘Md Polash’. He was a passenger of domestic flight from Dhaka to Chattogram.
A passenger on the Biman flight to Dubai via Chattogram tried to hijack the plane on Sunday evening. The aircraft managed to make an emergency landing at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport.
The airport was shut for hours during the incident which led to the suspect’s death in army operation.
The hijacker was wielding a pistol. However, all the 148 passengers and cabin crew members were safely evacuated.
Previously, authorities at the airport said the hijacker identified himself as one Mahadi.
