College teacher killed over land dispute in Dharamapasha



A lecturer of a private college was killed over previous enmity centering a land at Kaiyam village in Dharamapasha upazila on Friday

Locals said Abu Towhid Jewel, 40, son of late Siraj Uddin of Kaiyam village, had been at loggerheads with Abdur Razzak, a resident of the same village, over a piece of land.

At a sequel to the enmity, a clash ensued between members of the two families in the morning when Jewel received serious injuries, said officer-in-charge of Dharmapasha Police Station Surjit Talukdar.

Later, Jewel was taken to hospital where doctors declared him dead around 12 pm.

Meanwhile, police arrested Abdur Razzak and his father Abdul Khaleq in connection with the incident, said the OC adding the body was sent to morgue for autopsy.

Jewel was a lecturer of Jamalganj Degree College.
