Muktamoni, who is recovering after the second surgery at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) last Saturday, has been shifted to a cabin from Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Muktamoni’s father Ibrahim Hossain told that she was transferred to a regular cabin (No 608) in DMCH Burn unit around 2:45pm Wednesday (Aug 17).
Earlier on Saturday (Aug 12), Muktamoni underwent a surgery on her arm at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Since then she was kept in the ICU.
Muktamoni said, “I am OK now. People in here took great care of me and that is why I am recovering quickly. Please pray for me.”
DMCH burn unit Coordinator Dr Samonto Lal Sen said tissue sample has been collected from her hand while she was undergoing surgery on last Saturday and sent it to lab for biopsy examination. The next step of treatment will be determined after receiving the biopsy report.
Muktamoni, daughter of one Ibrahim Hossain hailing from Satkhira sadar upazila, has been suffering from the “unknown” disease mainly in her right hand since her early childhood.
After a report on Muktamoni was published in country’s online news portal on July 8, it drew widespread attention throughout the country. She was brought to DMCH with the assistance of a Health Department team. Later Prime Minster Shiekh Hasina took full responsibility of her treatment.
