The Education Minister of People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League, Nurul Islam Nahid said that no law will be passed in Bangladesh parliament which conflicts the interest of expats. Bangabandhu himself established the dual citizenship in the constitution of 72.
He was saying this in a civic felicitation meeting organised by UK Awami League in Water Lily Hall in East London on 24th January which he attended as the Chief Guest.
The Education Minister said that the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina is well informed about the rights of expats. The contribution of expats during liberation war and natural disaster are well-known to everyone.
The meeting was presided over by the President of UK Awami League Sultan Mahmud and was conducted by Joint Secretary Noyeem Uddin Riaz. Other guests who addressed the audience included MP of Habiganj Madhabpur constituency Advocate Mahbub Ali and leaders from Awami League, Jubo League, Chatro League, Mohila Awami League, Shechchashebok League and Sramik League.
