The High Commission for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, London, has organised a Victory Day celebration programme at High Commission building at Gloucester Road on December 16. The High Commissioner Nazmul Quaunine inaugurated the celebration programme. After raising the flag a discussion meeting was held focusing on importance of the day. An one minute silence was observed commemorating the martyrs who gave their live in the liberation war.
Awami League Senior leader and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Suranjit Sengupta had attended the ceremony as the chief guest. On his speech he mentioned that the independence of Bangladesh has earned by the blood of the martyrs.
The discussion meeting wasa presided over by the High Commissioner. President of UK Awami League Sultan Sharif, General Secretary Sajidur Rahman Faruque, Joint-General Secretary Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, President of UK Mohila Awami League Khaleda Quraishe, Mayor Brent Council Parvez Ahmed, Commandar of UK Bangladesh Commandar Porishad Shah Enamul Haque, President of UK Bangabandhu Parishad freedom fighter Kaysar Sayeed and Dr Alauddin Ahmed took part as guest speakers.
