Chittagong’s Mejban in London

Chittagong’s traditional Mejabn took place in a Banqueting Hall in London on 15th November.

Greater Chittagong Association UK organised this event which turned into a huge gathering of UK living residents of Chittagong where people also enjoyed a lively cultural performance featuring folk and traditional songs of Greater Chittagong.

Association’s President Monowar Hossain gave the welcoming speech. Editor of Chittagon’s oldest

Daily M A Malek was present as the Chief Guest in the event. General Secretary Showkot Mahmud

Tipu conducted the event where former High Commissioner to France Tojammol Haque Tony

addressed the audience. Popular pop and folk singer Tapan Chowdhury also featured in the event.

Along with Tapan Chowdhury, other musicians who performed at the event included Laboni Barua,

Rubayat Jahan, Roksana Safa, Sharmily Das, Piash Barua, Lutfunnahar Lina, Aktarul Alam, Jawad

Hossain, Sadia, Joya Chowdhury, Shimu Das, Tithi and others.

President of Greater Chittagong Association UK Monwar Hossain said Mejabn was organised to

unite and bring together all the UK living people of Chittagong. He also mentioned that he was

overwhelmed with the response of Mejban in people form Chittagong and other districts. To avoid

congestion, they intend to organise future events in an open venue.

A magazine was published to mark the event which was edited by organisation’s Publicity Secretary

Mohammod Kaisar. Vice President Mohammod Ali, Organising Secretary Syed Firoj Gani and

Welfare Secretary Masudur Rahman conducted the raffle draw.

Biman Bangladesh’s Country Manager Shafiqul Islam, Managing Director Monir Ahmed and Manager

of Travel Link Sami Islam handed over the prizes among the winners.
