Greater Lamakazi Welfare Association celebrates its 10 year anniversary

7caaa455-a2c1-481c-a3ab-33a9dbe8adfeGreater Lamakazi Welfare Association celebrated its 10 year anniversary and fund raising dinner party at White House venue in East London on 29th October vibrantly in the presence of huge number of non-residence-bangladeshis.

Community leaders and members enjoyed the whole event throughout which was present by a group of new generation young people.

Najia Yasmin Miah and Jeba Mohammod jointly presented the event and organisation’s General Secretary Abdus Salam took care of everything.  

Guest speaker at the celebration party were Speaker of Tower Hamlets Council Cllr Abdul Mukit MBE, organisation’s Advisor and Founder President Hiron Miah, President M Shahanoor, Cllr Mahbub Alam, Rahima Begum of BCCI, President of BBCA Yafor Ali, former President Faruque Ali, Dowlatkhan Babul, Faruque Mahfuz Ahmed and others.

Guests who were present at the event included Deputy Mayor of Tower Hamlets Cllr Sirajus Islam, Cllr Rahima Rahman, Cllr Ayesha Chowdhury, Cllr Shulok Miah, General Secretary of BBCA Shahnoor Khan, former Councillor Selim Chowdhury, Chief Executive of Betar Bangla Najim Chowdhury, Joint Secretary of UK Awami League Anowaruzzaman Chowdhury, President of Bishwanath Probashi Education Trust Mirza Ashab Beg, General Secretary Najrul Islam, Cllr Serwan Chowdhury, Cllr Shamsul Islam Selim, Habibur Rahman Habib of UK Awami League, former Press Secretary of BNP Chairperson Mushfiqul Fajal Ansari, BNP leader Ashiqur Rahman, President of UK Shechchashebok League Nasir Ahmed Shahin, community leader Muhibur Rahman, Syed Muhibur Rahman, Delwar Hossain, Muhib Uddin, Jahangir Khan, Riaz Uddin, Manikur Rahman Gani, Kadar Uddin and film actress Rojina, community leader Sadiqur Rahman, Lutfur Rahman Sayad and others.

The organisation involved the new generation to speed up the activities of this long established organisation.  A huge number of young people took part in the event to make it vivid and colourful.  The young people who took part in the event included Shahnaj Khan, Amirah Akhtar, Farjana Begum, Tania Begum, Hajera Jerin, Frerdowsi Miah Shumi, Chintia Jaman, Madia Yama Happy, Shahnaj Miah, Asma Islam, Tahmida Miah, Sayma Begum, Farhana Begum, Jakia Jannat, Ramija Jaman, Nahida Miah, Yahia Ali, Tania Khan, Masuma Kabir, Jama Sayeeda, Naimur Rahman, Jessica Nusrat, Ajim Miah, Jubeda Miah, Siddiqur Rahman and others.

The new committee for 2015-2017 were introduced to the audience.  The new committee are President M Shahanoor, Vice-president Sadiquzzaman, Kosir Miah, Lutfur Rahman Shelim, Nur Muhammod Sharif, Mahbubul Alam, Helal Ahmed, Abdul Khalique, Somuj Ali, Shayesta Miah, Moshrof Ali, Md Syed, General Secretary Abdus Salalm, Co General Secretary Sadiqur Rahman Faruque, Women’s Secretary Jeba Mohammod, Co General Secretary Jabed Miah, Anamul Haque, Ruhel Khan, Shahin Ahmed, Treasurer Foyjul Haque, Co Treasurer Badruzzaman, Mujibur Rahman Selim, Organising Secretary Aktaruzzaman, Press and Media Secretary Selim Rahman, IT Secretary Abdul Kahar, Sports Secretary Shahanur Miha, Co Sports Secretary Ali Haidar, Religious Affairs Secretary Maolana Habibur Rahman, Co Religious Affairs Secretary Maolana Moktar Ahmed Mijan, EC Member Samir Ali, Amira Begum, Shahbaz Noor, Safwan Mahmud, Khaled Miah, Jubayer Ahmed and Ajim Miah.

A documentary was shown at the event on welfare activities that the organisation has been doing in Bangladesh and fund was raised to run a free eye camp like every year.  50 people also filled in trustee forms contributing 250 pounds each.   There was a raffle draw, Children’s Quran Telwat and folk songs.

The leaders urged everyone’s co-operation to run the organisation even more efficiently in future.
