Celebrating the best of the British Bangladeshi community

1Bangla Mirror Desk: The Bangla Mirror Group, publishers of the British Bangladeshi Who’s Who publication, held a press conference on Thursday 22nd October 2015 at the London Muslim Centre, to announce the launch of the much anticipated 2015 publication.

The official launch of the British Bangladeshi Who’s Who 2015 publication and award is being held in the prestigious Meridian Grand venue on Thursday 5th November 2015. Many high profile dignitaries, celebrities and guests are expected to attend.

The first British Bangladeshi Who’s Who was published in 2008. Following on from the success and subsequent annual launch gala dinners, attended by prominent figures in politics, government, business and the media, the 2015‘British Bangladeshi Who’s Who’ gala event and publication promises to be the best to date.  There will be exciting new faces, which the publishers have unearthed in this year’s publication and several hotly, anticipated awards.

Shahadoth Karim, the Editor of the publication, said ‘the publication and awards ceremony has now become in many people’s eyes an important date in the calendar for British Bangladeshis’

The ‘British Bangladeshi Who’s Who is a publication that celebrates the best of the British Bangladeshi community. This is the Eighth year of the publication, which is the definitive guide to the most successful, influential and highest achieving people from the Bangladeshi community in Britain. Its originality and high quality have ensured its longevity.

Abdul Karim (Goni), Editor-in-Chief of the British Bangladeshi Who’s Who said, “The publication is a living memory of the hard work and struggles of our community, which has contributed immensely to Britain.

“Like them or loathe them, the ‘British Bangladeshi Who’s Who’ lists have always held a fascinating place in our society. What is undeniable is that they make compelling publications for the rest of us.”

The Editor-in-Chief said, “In 2017, Bangla Mirror Group hope to celebrate the 10 years of publishing British Bangladeshi Who’s Who.”

As ever, the publishers are not giving everything away in the hope that those attending the 2015 launch will be fascinated and surprised by this year’s event.

The Bangla Mirror Group started publishing the first English weekly newspaper for the British Bangladeshis known as ‘Bangla Mirror’ in October 2002.  Since then the company has rapidly expanded and also publishes the highly successful British Bangladeshi Who’s Who, an annual publication that list the profiles of the best of the British Bangladeshi community in the UK.

The British Bangladeshi Who’s Who 2015 publication is being distributed as an insert into the UK’s no.1 British Bangla newspaper, the Bangla Mirror and will be available from the 13th November nationally across the UK. Readers can also log on to www.bbwhoswho.co.uk and find the 2008 to 2015 list. The British Bangladeshi Who’s Who is now also available to read on board the Biman Bangladesh airline. The publication recently achieved one of its many recognition of success from Biman, the national flag career of Bangladesh. Copies of the publication are now available on board for their passengers.

Among those who were present in the press conference were Canary Wharf Group’s head of community affairs Zakir Khan, Meridian Grand Managing Director Nikkita Mulchandani and John Mulchandani,Taj Choudhury CEO Channal S,  UK & Ireland Country Manager for Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Mohammed Shafiqul Islam , Prime Estate Agent Managing Director Kazi Arif, Medialink Managing Director Mujibul Islam, Eastern Pride Director Mohammed  Mazhar Ali, Chef Online Managing Director M A Munim Salik, JMG Managing Director Monir Ahmed, Taj Shah Principle of Taj Solicitors ,Film Asia  Directors S H Khurshed and H M Shahajahan , Henna Events Managing Director Abul Kalam Khan, Managing Director of  Energise Health Club Samir Choudhury, Renowned community  activist Faruque Ahmed, organiser of Southall Mela Shofiqul Alam,Cllr  Atiqul Haque and Faruq Miah MBE.

A number of community activists and representatives from Bengali electronic and print media were also present at the press conference.

 Who’s Who team members, Barrister Anwar Babul Miah, Koyes Uddin, Mohammed Ali, Suhana Ahmed, Selim Rahman, Ibrahim Rahman,  Hafsa Islam, Rashed Belal and others.

The 2015 publication and gala dinner is sponsored and supported by numerous organisations and businesses, which include our lead partner the Canary Wharf Group and in association with Meridian Grand.

The media partners of the gala dinner included Channel S, G10 Design & printer, Bangla Post, London BanglaTV, Medialink, Eastern Pride, Film Asia, Impress Media, UKBD News and Probash Bangla.
