The Dhaka University authorities announced that the elections to Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and its hall unions will be held on March 11.
DUCSU elections Chief Returning Officer Professor Mahfuzur Rahman announced the schedule at 10:40 am at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Monday.
The DU administration will also publish the draft list of voters today.
“But the final list will be published on February 20,” said the official.
The voting will continue from 8 am to 2pm inside the residential halls of the university.
As per the schedule, the nomination papers distribution will begin on February 19 and continue until February 25 while the last date of nomination paper submission has been fixed on February 26.
The deadline for withdrawing candidature is March 2 while the final candidate list will be published on March 3.
“And the list of supplementary voter list will be published on March 5,” Professor Rahman told reporters citing the schedule.
The last DUCSU election took place on July 6, 1990. Since then, efforts were taken several times, but no polls took place to DUCSU in the last 28 years.
On January 17 last year the High Court ordered the DU authorities to take steps to hold the DUCSU election in six months.
