Police recovered the body of Mahfuza Chowdhury Parvin, a former principal of Eden Mohila College, from her residence in the capital’s Elephant Road area on Sunday night.
“The body was recovered from her apartment at Sukanya Tower last night,” Deputy Commissioner (Ramna) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Md Maruf Hossain Sorder told reporters on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, two of the total three domestic helps are missing since the murder.
“It seemed from the injury marks on the body that the principal was strangulated to death by them,” said the official.
The deceased husband Ismat Quadir Gama, who was outside, told media that he knocked the door after returning home and one of the domestic helps opened the door.
After entering the house, he found his wife lying dead on the bed, Gama said, adding that domestic helps Joba Reshma, 30, and Swapna, 35, had been on the run after murder and cupboards were damaged.
The duo had been working at their house for the last one and a half months, he said.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family filed a murder case against the missing maids Reshma and Swapna.
The case was filed at New Market police station, said the deceased’s husband.
