Mirror Desk : A day-long free eye camp was held on Kubajpur, Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj district on Saturday.
It was donated by Bangla Mirror group uk and Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust organised the camp.
Planning Minister MA Mannan MP was present as the chief guest at the eye camp. He announced the inauguration of the free Eye Screening Camp by cutting the ribbons.
Jagannathpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahfuzul Alam Masum, Upazila Awami League General Secretary Rezaul Karim Riju, Vice Chairman of Jagannathpur Upazila Parishad Bijon Kumar Deb, Pailgoan Union Parishad Chairman Moklisur Rahman, Raniganj Union Parishad Chairman Shahidul Islam Rana, Jagannathpur Press Club President Sonkor Roy were present as special guests. Abdul Karim Goni, Editor, Bangla Mirror presided over the occasion.
‘The goal of the eye screening camp was to identify and treat every underprivileged person who was in need of eye surgery, medicine or eyeglasses but was financially unable to seek treatment’.
Over 500 patients attended the camp and 28 patients received free cataract surgeries.
Bangla Mirror Editor Abdul Karim Goni said, they distributed free medicines, eye drops and eye glasses to the underprivileged.
Patients diagnosed with cataract and refractive errors will also be provided surgery and eyeglasses free of cost, he added.

A team of qualitative doctors from VARD Eye Hospital, Sunamganj provided the treatment to the patients at the eye camp.
