3 ‘robbers’ held in Chuadanga

3 ‘robbers’ held in ChuadangaChuadanga, Aug 18 : Detectives arrested three suspected members of an inter-district robber gang from Haidarpur village in Sadar upazila on Friday evening.

The arrestees are—Amjad Biswas, 40, hailing from Mohammadpur upazila, Sujon Mitra, 36, and Durjoy Biswas, hailing from Sripur upazila in Magura district.

On information that a gang of ‘robbers’ was there in a mango orchard near Chuadanga-Jhenidah highway to rob of cattle-laden trucks, a team of DB police conducted the drive around 7am and arrested the trio, said Ashraf Biswas, a sub-inspector of detective branch of police of the district.

The DB team also recovered sharp weapons from their possession.

Mahbubur Rahman, superintendent of Chuadanga Police, said the arrested ‘robbers’ are active members of an inter-district gang and wanted in a number of cases.
