Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has given us independence. There is no establishment in Habiganj that carries the name of Bangabandhu, to pay off the debt of our the Father of our Nation, we have established Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Habiganj, in his daughter’s name. If your love is with us, we can do a lot for the welfare of Hobiganj. MP of Hobignaj 3 and President of Hobiganj Awami League, Advocate Abu Zahir told this in a felicitation meeting in London on 30th July in a hotel in East London.
He also said that Sheikh Hasina has given us a Medical College in Habiganj and there are now Honours course running in Habiganj Government College. He also mentioned that more than eight colleges and several high schools have been established at his constituency recenltly. None of these were his election commitment, but he has done all theses as son of Habiganj.
In his speech, he also said that whenever Awami League Government is in power there are always developments. The country is now planning to introduce Widow Allowance, which is not even introduced in the UK. He emphasised that the government is now working on Unemployed Allowance, Pension and other allowances that would bring the country out of poverty.
Answering to a question raised by prominent businessman Dewan Abdur Rab, the MP said that as Habignaj is flourishing as an industrial zone, he will take initiative to establish a Cargo Container Server Station in Shayestaganj.
The meeting was presided over community leader Nehar Miah Chowdhury and were jointly conducted by Vice-president of UK Jubo League Chowdhury Foyezur Rahman Mostaque, Ajit Lal Das and Shahjahan Kabir.
