Beani Bazar Cancer and General Hospital served 707 cancer patients and provided health services to more than 22,000 patients. The hospital authority organised a progress report meeting to inform these information on 9th of May in a restaurant in East London. At the meeting the authority mentioned that a huge number of people are benefited from its Poor Fund. The speakers are hoping that general people will help them again to raise money for the hospital at the fundraising event to be broadcast on Channel S on 28th May.
The speakers also emphasized that the hospital is providing chemotherapy and cancer awareness side by side. Between 2015 to 2018 in total 22,156 patients has been served. Out of this there were 707 cancer patients who took specialist service, there were 1,320 nose, ear and throat patients, 235 surgery patients and 133 patients were treated on gynaecology issues. The speakers also mentioned that 1,130 people contributed to its Poor Fund.
Co-founder of the hospital and Marketing Director Forhad Hossain Tipu conducted event. Manjurus Samad Chowdhury Mamun recited from the Quran at the beginning and Chairman of the Hospital Alhaj Shamsuddin Khan welcomed the guests and an progress report read by CEO of Beani Bazar Cancer hospital Shab Uddin.
Rehmat Sheikh and Sabira Khatun presented a short film on the Hospital.
Guests who addressed the audience included Founder of Channel S Mahee Ferdous Jalil, Chairman Ahmedus Samad Chowdhury JP, former Secretary General of BCA M A Munim, Secretary of Borolekha Association Foysol Rahman, community leader Manik Miah, Shuna Miah, Founder of Golapganj Education Trust Alhaj Shifat Ali Ahad, fromer Treasurer Maolana Ashraful Islam, Chairman of the Beani Bazar Cancer hospital Shamsuddin Khan and others.
In his speech, Chairman of the hospital said that, the acitiivities of the hospital will run by the money donated by general people and their charity. The hospital is now planning to build an annex building so it can conduct different health operations and tests. The hospital will also open four new departments which are eye-care, physio, diabetes and OPD. This will require an additional three hundred thousand to four hundred thousand pound to get the job done.
Mahee Ferdous Jalil said that Beani Bazar Cancer Hospital is now is an inspiration not only in Bangladesh but also in the UK. More people should come forward and take this as an example and try to take initiative like this one.
Marketing Director Farhad Hossain Tipu mentioned that the hospital have managed to raise 1.75 million pounds so far. This money will be spent in building construction and other structural purposes.
Some guests at the event announced to become life-members donating thousand pounds each where as some British Bangladeshi doctors expressed their wish to get involved with the activities with the hospital.
Among the trustees who addressed the audience included Dr Kabir Mahmud, M A Gani, Rouful Islam, Abdul Karim Nazim, Jahid Rahman, Abdul Alim Fazlu, Bajidur Rahman, Abdus Samad and Dvid and Jane from Squire Mile Insurance.
