W1A star Alex Beckett has passed away aged 36, his agent confirmed on Thursday.
The Welsh actor, who was renowned for his role as Barney Lumsden on BBC comedies W1A and Twenty Twelve, was lauded by Gavin Denton-Jones in the announcement. The cause of death is yet to be announced.
Denton-Jones’ statement read: ‘We’re deeply saddened by the loss of Alex – a wonderful man and a hugely talented actor. Our thoughts are with his family and we kindly ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.’

Alex was starring in The Way of the World at the Donmar Warehouse prior to his death, however theatre officials confirmed the rest of the week’s performances would be cancelled in honour of the esteemed actor.
A statement from Donmar’s artistic director Josie Rourke and executive director Kate Pakenham read: ‘We are deeply shocked by the tragic loss of our dear friend and brilliant actor Alex Beckett, a much-loved member of The Way of the World company.
