Journalist Syed Ahiya Bakht laid to rest

Habiganj Correspondent : Syed Ahiya Bakht, a veteran journalist and freedom fighter, was laid to rest at his family graveyard in Habiganj on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, the freedom fighter, also a permanent member of Jatiya Press Club died at a Singapore hospital at the age of 75.

His namaz-e-janaza was held at the JPC premises after the body arrived home in the morning.

A good number of journalists from different media outlets, his friends and family members took part in the namaz-e-janaza.

Jatiya Press Club President Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and General Secretary Farida Yasmin placed wreaths in respect to the veteran journalists.

Later, the eminent newsman was shifted to his ancestral home at Chandrachhari village in Bahubal upazila and was buried there.

Syed Ahiya Bakht, former news editor of The Daily Ittefaq, worked for several other national dailies including The Daily Sangbad and The Daily Purbadesh.

His kulkhani will be held at his village home on Sunday.
