English Language Training provided to Special Branch Officers by the UK Government

In a ceremony held on 31st March 2018, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Alison Blake, handed over certificates to 110 Special Branch officers following their successful completion of an English Language Training Course.

This training will assist officers in the identification of illegal migrants, interviewing and debriefing of international passengers and liaising with international law enforcement agencies.

The department of Immigration Enforcement International and the British High Commission are working with Special Branch to build their capacity to identify and tackle organised immigration crime and human trafficking.

Congratulating the officers on the completion of their training, the High Commissioner said:

“I am delighted to salute the personal achievement and commitment shown by the officers of the Special Branch who have successfully completed their English Language Training Course.

“This is a great example of the friendly relations between the UK and Bangladesh and of the excellent practical cooperation between the British High Commission Dhaka and the Special Branch of the Bangladesh Police in tackling organised immigration crime and human trafficking, which is a shared priority for both Governments.”

Representatives from Special Branch, British High Commission, British Council and US Embassy attended the event.
